Enteral and gastrostomy tube feeding
There are different ways to receive nutrition if an individual is unable to eat orally. Enteral (NG tube) and/or gastrostomy tube (g-tube) are two examples. We monitor sites for infection and notify physicians with any concerns.
Antibiotic infusion
Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections. These infections are caused by a variety of organisms and at times intravenous antibiotics are the first line of treatment for certain infections. Especially for those organisms that have built up a resistance to antibiotics. Such infections are Extended Spectrum Beta-lactamase (ESBL) and Carbapenem-Resistant Enterbacterales (CRE). Intravenous antibiotics are used to treat infections such as pyelonephritis, bacteremia, and osteomyelitis.
Immunoglobulin and Enzyme Therapy
Immunoglobulin therapy (IVIG) is a type of immunotherapy that is used to treat patients with antibody deficiency. IVIG can be used to treat Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, and scleroderma, just to name a few. IV enzyme therapy (ERT) is a treatment used to replace enzymes in those with enzyme deficiency or enzyme malfunction. Such conditions are Fabry disease and Pompe disease.
